RITES Academic Support for Academic Success: Now and in the Future
What “school” means has changed, due to necessary safety measures put in place in response to the spread of COVID-19. But “distance learning” doesn’t have to feel so…well…distant. Regardless of the format, RITES knows the way to bring truly personalized learning to each student for the best kind of academic support and academic success.
If you are looking for ways to support your child’s learning, engagement, and academic growth for this coming school year, working with a RITES tutor might be your child’s key to success.
Yes, these are challenging times—but that doesn’t mean your child has to feel overwhelmed by online schoolwork. With focused support, your child can keep up, gain confidence, and even thrive, despite the changes to his or her learning environment.
Supporting our students in overcoming obstacles and achieving academic success is what we do best at RITES, at all times.
RITES Academic Support
Who We Are
RITES is not a “tutor referral” service. We are a well-established, non-profit tutoring and educational services organization with administrative offices in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. We work with students in Rhode Island, throughout the U.S., and internationally; our tutors work for us directly, and are all certified teachers with at least five years of hands-on teaching experience. We tutor students in grades K-12, as well as college students, and even adults (it’s never too late!).
What We Do
We support your child’s academic success. It’s really that simple. But, the process is a truly collaborative effort, which encompasses the whole child and his or her support system.
We will begin by discussing with you your goals for your child:
- Does your child need help navigating online learning for schoolwork that used to be done in a school building?
- Are you and your child trying to manage a hybrid in-person/online school program?
- Is your child enrolled in an online learning program but is having trouble understanding or completing assignments?
- Is your child enrolled in a homeschooling program and needs help completing work?
- Do you think your child would benefit from extra review of concepts or skills, not necessarily tied to a particular school assignment?
We will then introduce you to one of our experienced tutors, who is qualified to teach your child’s grade level and subject matter. When placing your child with a dedicated tutor, we take into consideration how your child learns best to find the ideal match.
Redefining the online learning experience
Yes, we do currently tutor online. But, no, we do not think of this as “distance learning.” Our tutors truly connect with their students, whether they’re sitting together in a room or interacting with each other through screens across the state, across the country, or across the world. For our tutors, technology is a tool—not a stumbling block.
At the core of any RITES tutoring session is focused, individualized support for the student. The student has the tutor’s full attention, whether that tutor is just across the desk or is on the other side of the ocean. We craft each lesson to address the individual student’s particular needs, and create each lesson to build on the one before, incorporating our knowledge of that student’s learning profile into all we do. At RITES, we don’t let any “distance” get in the way of supporting our students in achieving success.
