What Parents Are Saying:
My son has dyslexia, attended the RITES summer program and has been receiving instruction from a RITES tutor for nearly 2 years. He has made remarkable progress and were it not for RITES and the support he has received, he would not be the confident learner that he is today. His tutor is Orton-Gillingham trained and modifies the curriculum to suit his academic needs. Halley and Lisa are always available to answer any questions or concerns I may have as a parent. They offer suggestions and lend a listening ear when the weight of having a child with a learning disability gets to be overwhelming. RITES provides free parent educational seminars/workshops which is a tremendous resource when one is trying to navigate the world of evaluations, IEP’s, 504’s,etc. I cannot say enough about the level of knowledge and professionalism that is at the heart of RITES program.

I want you to know how much your organization has helped my daughter over the past 2 years. Not only was our RITES tutor able to teach our daughter to read, she helped her find the self-confidence she needs when learning NEW things! When my husband and I think how she started at a pre-K reading level entering second grade and now she is reading and comprehending at a 6th grade level, well, it seems miraculous. While I hope our daughter continues to progress this well throughout the rest of her schooling, it is reassuring knowing that your excellent services are available.
What Teachers and Learning Differences Professionals Are Saying:
Our practice frequently refers clients to RITES and we consistently receive positive reports about the quality of RITES services. Our clinical/evaluation group is multi-disciplinary, completing numerous psychoeducational, neuropsychological and speech-and-language evaluations with a diverse array of children and adolescents. When follow-up services are indicated within the tutorial domain, RITES is the first agency we typically turn to. Lisa and Halley respond promptly to client inquiries, offer insightful suggestions, sustain a diverse array of service offerings and collaborate reliably with referring professionals. Their agency has become invaluable within the Rhode Island and Massachusetts educational tutorial communities.

RITES goes above and beyond expectations with all children, all of the time. I have referred students to their programs, always with amazing results. They truly understand dyslexia and other language-based learning challenges set within the child development context. Their staff is a top-notch group who never seems to forget that the child is at the center of everything. 5 stars is not a high enough rating for this organization.

I teach reading, writing, spelling (O-G). I’ve been teaching for almost ten years and am impressed with the rapport RITES tutors establish with their students. The co-directors are devoted to their work, and their enthusiasm radiates outward, affecting teachers and students around them. I give this organization an A+.

The RITES Program has been an invaluable service to many, many children and their families in the Rhode Island and surrounding areas. With professionals who have expertise in the area of reading and learning challenges, they have provided outstanding support for children and families through direct service to the children and organizing workshops to educate and support parents in their child’s educational journey. I applaud them!
I am an academic tutor for RITES as of July 2012. I began my work as a teacher in the Hamilton Summer Program and have continued as an independent tutor. I have been greatly impressed with the high level of professionalism and genuine concern for clients. In addition, employees are offered professional workshop opportunities to enhance their work with clients. As a result, students are ensured their educational tutor is up to date on the latest research and resources available for an optimal learning experience. The atmosphere at RITES is welcoming and accepting of all. It is an enjoyable place in which to work and to further develop one’s profession. Students receive quality one-to-one support and develop essential lifelong skills as readers, writers, and problem solvers.
Classroom Teachers Respond to Results of RITES’ Support for Students:
Reading comprehension has always been strength but significant improvement is noted in Moira’s decoding and fluency. She is approaching grade level expectations! What a change since September. Never in my 26 years of teaching have I witnessed so much progress in so little time.

I’ve noticed dramatic improvements in my student’s ability to attack unknown words with various strategies. The open communication with my student’s tutor and her willingness to share strategies was also very helpful in furthering my student’s progress.
