FREE WORKSHOP:
What Are Our Rights? Kids, Their Schools, and the Law
January 26, 2012
6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Rochambeau Library, Providence

RSVP to Rhode Island Tutorial: (401) 723-4459 or info@ritutorial.org

A seminar and Q-and-A session designed to inform parents of children with learning difficulties about the relationship between their children and the public schools. Attorney Jason Knight will discuss what kind of education the schools are required to provide, the evaluation process for identifying appropriate accommodations for kids with learning difficulties, and the basics of the conflict resolution procedures. Jason will also show you some simple approaches and techniques designed to advocate effectively for your child's needs and avoid needless conflict and litigation.

Rhode Island Tutorial & Educational Services was established over a decade ago to help students with various learning styles realize their academic potential. RITES has helped hundreds of students develop the skills for success both in their classrooms and at home by offering one-on-one tutoring, small-group instruction, summer programs, assessment services, and advocacy support to the Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts communities. The RITES staff understands that the “one size fits all” approach to instruction just doesn’t work, so RITES teachers develop personalized plans of instruction based on each student’s learning needs. For more information, visit www.ritutorial.org.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
for TEACHERS, too!

Our Beyond the Basics course provides hands-on literacy tools for teaching middle and high school students who struggle with word meaning, spelling, fluency, and comprehension. This course is intended for teachers who are familiar with multisensory, systematic reading instruction for younger children, and wish to apply these principles to older students, who need to get the most out of what they read. RI PDC’s and MA PDP’s available. For more details, click here.
