This course helps students learn "how to learn" and manage the demands of school. Students learn "active" study strategies to help them retain morei nformation and increase their independence. Students participate in activities that help them uncover their learning styles and understand how best to use their strengths to overcome their difficulties. They learn step-by-step methods to apporach their assignments and meet deadlines, easing homework anxiety.
Additionally, this course provides concrete strategies and techniques to improve writing. Students learn the mechanics of editing, proofreading and polishing written work.

This course approaches math through effective multisensory methods and fun activities. The portion of this course is for students to learn how to extract information from text. The emphasis is on improving reading comprehension and fluency. Children are taught key comprehension strategies, such as making connections, questioning, visualizing, inferring, determining importance, and synthesizing information.
The portion of the course provides concrete strategies and techniques to improve written expression. Students learn the mechanics of editing, proofreading and polishing written work. Paragraph formation is taught in a step-by-step manner. Older students also work on different types of essays.
