CHILD ADVOCACY

"(RI Tutorial) has become an integral part of helping us manage our daughter's educational path. (RI Tutorial) continually interfaces with each of our daughter's teachers, reviewing their lesson plans and identifying where difficulty will lie for her."
-Second Grader's Parent

Our goal is to prepare parents to become effective educational advocates for their child. The child advocate is a certified psychologist with the Rhode Island Department of Health. She worked as a school psychologist for 24 years as an evaluator and member of an I.E.P. team.

Our child advocate consults with parents to help them:

• Understand the procedures and regulations governing educational services

• Prepare for eligibility, I.E.P. and other school meetings, and to attend with them if needed.

• Clarify what public schools are/are not obligated to provide

• Understand and integrate the results of professional evaluations, and use the essential findings of the evaluations to benefit the child.

• Work with any concerns that are impacting a child's educational progress.
