Our goal is to prepare parents to become effective educational advocates for their child. The child advocate is a certified psychologist with the Rhode Island Department of Health. She worked as a school psychologist for 24 years as an evaluator and member of an I.E.P. team.
Our child advocate consults with parents to help them:
• Understand the procedures and regulations governing educational services
• Prepare for eligibility, I.E.P. and other school meetings, and to attend with them if needed.
• Clarify what public schools are/are not obligated to provide
• Understand and integrate the results of professional evaluations, and use the essential findings of the evaluations to benefit the child.
• Work with any concerns that are impacting a child's educational progress.
