About AD/HD & ADD
“Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (AD/HD) is one of the most common neurobehavioral disorders. It is usually first diagnosed in childhood and often persists into adulthood. AD/HD is a chronic disorder that can negatively impair many aspects of daily life, including home, school, work, and interpersonal relationships. Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (AD/HD) is a common neurobiological condition affecting 5-8 percent of school age children with symptoms persisting into adulthood in as many as 60 percent of cases (i.e. approximately 4% of adults). It is characterized by developmentally inappropriate levels of inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity.”
Children and Adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD)
At Rhode Island Tutorial & Educational Services our teachers help students with AD/HD, ADD or Executive Function difficulties learn “active” study strategies to help them retain more information and increase their impendence. Our teachers also assist students in organizing their assignments, reviewing important material taught in their school, improving homework habits, and learning techniques to improve their success in their classroom.
Our summer programs offer Study and Organizational Skill classes, which focus on study strategies, textbook reading skills, outlining, note-taking, highlighting techniques, test-taking strategies, organization and time management.
